Whilst David Lloyd Chorley A continue to charge forward at the top of Division 1, Leigh A and Ellesmere A are heading the chasing pack. Richard Massey and James Moores led the way for Leigh in their latest victory, taking three sets in their 7-2 score against Tyldesley. Meanwhile at Chorley, Ellesmere advanced their cause with a 6-3 return. There were no less than five sets taken to the tie break in this match. Peter Bradley and Fabrice Higgins taking two for Chorley, whilst Andy Westmoreland and John Nuttall were strong for Ellesmere.

In Division 2, a very strong performance from Nibs Senior and Joe Rogerson (6-1, 6-0, 6-3) saw David Lloyd Abitare B over the line with a 5-4 defeat of Darwen. David Lloyd Chorley B recorded their first win this year, 6-3 at home to Elton Vale A. Alasdair Upton and Richard Lee took three sets for the Chorley team. The remaining matches in this division saw comfortable wins for the top two, Hawkshaw A and David Lloyd Abitare A at Ellesmere B and Walmer A respectively.

Eagley A suffered a surprising defeat at home to Markland Hill B (5-4), but hold on at the top of Division 3, with Winton and Leigh B trailing them on sets difference. Winton’s 9-0 victory over a very capable Barrow Bridge A was particularly impressive.

David Lloyd Abitare C had their toughest match to date, scraping through with a 5-4 win at Claremont. Phil Ashworth and Sam Backsi took all three sets for the Bolton team including a crucial tie break against Paul Davies and Dave Hunter. Hawkshaw B remain hot in pursuit following a 7-2 victory against Chorley B with Steve Cross and Alex Murphy undefeated on the night. Eagley B lifted themselves off the bottom with 6-3 win at David Lloyd Abitare D with a solid team performance.

In Division 5, Elton Vale B maintained their 100% record. This week’s victims were Hawkshaw C, despite the efforts of Ross Manning and Barry Warburton who won three sets for the losing team. Bradshaw B, Markland Hill C and Meadow Hill A all had convincing 8-1 wins.

Mark Morris and Peter Morgenroth made a match winning performance for Ellesmere C at Chorley C, by taking all three sets in a 5-4 victory for their team. The win keeps Ellesmere running neck and neck with Holcombe Brook C at the top of Division 6, with both sides undefeated. A similar situation exists in Division 7 with Markland Hill D and Roe Green B leading the way.
