Holcombe Brook A continued their imperious start to the season with an emphatic win against Markland Hill B. The home side won all the sets with Natalie Flynn, Jane Topping, Greg Collins, Ian Axford and Michael Moores winning their sets without dropping a game. Bellingham are currently in second spot and are playing Holcombe Brook on Saturday in what is likely to be a critical match. Bellingham’s result from their match at Markland Hill A had not been received at the time of going to press. Bradshaw A picked up a much-needed win at home to Winstanley. The Bradshaw boys were dominant with Ben Tinniswood, Jack Butterworth, Patrick O’Riordan and Matt Elmes taking all their sets. Lucy Parker and Eve Loftus won their girls sets to give Winstanley their only success.

The two teams setting the pace in Division 2 were pitted against each other at David Lloyd Chorley where David Lloyd Abitare were the visitors. The Chorley side took the early advantage leading 3-1 after the mixed sets. Joe Rogerson followed up his mixed victory accompanied by Charlotte Hughes, with comfortable wins in the boys’ sets partnered by Hamzah Charawali, to keep the Bolton team in the match. Charlotte Hughes and Eve Gould took one and a half sets from the girls sets to add to the Bolton total, but David Lloyd Chorley put in a solid team performance with all their players making a contribution to a 7½ - 4½ victory. At the other end of the table, Hawkshaw A recorded their first win of the season 9-3 at home to Bradshaw B. Ben Meech, Joe Jackson, Bryony Meech and Marla Davies were unbeaten on the day for Hawkshaw. Elliot Kwiatowski was Bradshaw’s most successful player.

Finally in Division 3, Hawkshaw B emulated their A team by also recording their first win of the season against the division’s newcomers, Tyldesley.
