This trophy was donated by Bolton Sports Council with sponsorship
from Royal Dutch Shell and was initially known as the "Shell
Mex". Because sponsorship and Sunday play were alien to the philosophy of the Bolton Sunday School’s Social League Committee of the time, the event was run by the Rounders League Committee on behalf of the Bolton Sports Council rather than the Bolton Sports Federation. |
